Jun 16, 2005 · Changing DNS servers is not going to solve the problem if it’s packet loss. 90% of all packet loss problems with cable modems is a weak signal and it’s usually due to having the modem on a weak tap. The modem should be on it’s own home-run cable straight to the outside box (not sharing a cable with anything else).
I first experienced your issues with another game (TF2), a ~30% packet loss nightly at peak hours through an alter.net node. Tier 1 support kept lying to me and telling me inane things, also saying that «ALTER.net» isn’t theirs or their responsibility.

Feb 05, 2018 · Packet loss is big part of the problem. Look at each node and see what the packet loss % is. You can have a 250ms ping with zero packet loss and have a better connection than someone with a 60ms ping and 30% packet loss.
And sometimes, it CAN’T resolve the IP address of a site. Right now, all within a matter of 10 seconds, I had one ping request fail to find host, one request have 100% packet loss. And the third ping request have 50% packet loss. ALSO. WZC doesn’t seem to be coordinating with ipconfig.
