Getting to Preikestolen by ferry and bus From April to September there is a bus connection several times daily between Tau and Preikestolen Mountain Lodge. The buses correspond with ferries from Fiskepirterminalen in Stavanger.
Activity provider: Gofjords. Get to Preikestolen by bus and ferry. Take the ferry from Stavanger to Tau, then corresponding bus from Tau ferry quay to Preikestolen Mountain Lodge, the starting point of the hike. Travelling time is approximately one hour. Choose Language.
The tour requires overnight stays in Stavanger and Bergen, and you can add additional overnight stays en route according to your wishes. Starting in Stavanger, you choose wether to go on a magnificent Lysefjorden cruice, or take a fjord cruise and a hiking trip to the spectacular Pulpit Rock.
You can also go by ferry from Stavanger – Tau. Drive southwards along the Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke, and follow the signposting to Preikestolen. From Stavanger, follow the Rv 13, take the ferry to Tau and continue on the same road to the south. Preikestolen Fjellstue is situated in the south of Jørpeland. From the South, head east to Sandnes on Rv 13 and take the ferry from Lauvik to Oanes. Continue on the same road to Preikestolen Fjellstue.
Pulpit Rock – Preikestolen – above Lysefjord Pulpit Rock is a flat plateau jutting out above Lysefjord with 604m vertical drop to the fjord below. It is a famous and spectacular landmark of the Ryfylke and visitors have been coming for years to hike up and onto the rock – it is a very popular daytrip from Stavanger with its hotels and restaurants.
